Referral Time
• It generally takes a total of 14-18 months to complete an adoption from China, from initial application through travel. The first 2-3 months will be spent completing your home study, obtaining USCIS (immigration) approval and preparing your dossier. Once your dossier is submitted to China, you will wait 12 months for a referral, and then travel 1 month later, staying in China for 2 weeks.
Travel Information
• Once you have accepted the child referred to you (by signing a confirmation form), you will apply for your travel visa to China, begin shopping for travel necessities, and wait for your travel approval letter to arrive from China. It is recommended that both parents travel.
• Once your travel approval letter arrives, your travel date can be finalized, based on the date of your group's consulate appointment in Guangzhou. Our experienced in-country colleagues will escort you through the entire process with a group of other families who are adopting at the same time. You will stay in luxurious hotels and enjoy several sightseeing and shopping tours in addition to the official appointments required to complete your child's adoption in China. Your child will generally be brought to you on your 3rd day in China and will be with you throughout the rest of the trip.
CCI works with an agency licensed by China to facilitate all China adoptions. CCI itself is not licensed by China. Information regarding the third-party agency is revealed to all applicants upon approval of their application. Information can also be provided upon request.
