Program Highlights

Taiwan Adoption Program: Taiwan, formally called the Republic of China, is Asia's first constitutional republic. This beautiful island is 394 km long and actually the largest body of land between Japan and the Philippines. Taiwan offers gorgeous mountains, fabulous hot springs, warm tropical summers and short, mild winters. The Taiwanese government offers prospective adoptive families the opportunity to adopt a Taiwanese child in need of a loving home. The birthmothers in Taiwan are actively involved in the adoption process. Each birthmother is given the opportunity to actually choose the adoptive family for her child, although she is not required to do so.

Children Available
• Special need, older children or sibling groups who have been relinquished by their birthmother or placed by the government.

Parents' Requirements
• Couples may adopt special needs, older children or sibling groups. Preference is given to childless couples between the ages of 30-45 who have been married at least five years. However, age, length of marriage or family size will not necessarily disqualify a family. The primary goal is to find loving families for children in need of a home. Single people may adopt special needs or older children.

Number of Existing Children of Adoptive Parents
• There is no requirement regarding the number of adoptive children in your home although they typically prefer smaller families.

Marital Status
• Preference is given to childless couples between the ages of 30-45 who have been married at least five years. However, age, length of marriage or family size will not necessarily disqualify a family.

Referral Time
• Once an adoptive family selects a waiting child and the orphanage approves the adoption, the child's legal paperwork will be mailed to Celebrate Children. We will then assist the adoptive family in completing the paperwork. Once the paperwork is returned to Taiwan, the court process typically takes 4-6 months until completion. The child is ready to come home shortly thereafter.

Travel Information
• Adoptive parents have the opportunity to travel to Taiwan to bring their newly adopted child home. Length of stay is usually 4-5 days. Escorts may be arranged on a case by case basis.
