Program Highlights

The Socialist Republic of Vietnam is located in South East Asia, bordering the Gulf of Thailand, Gulf of Tonkin, and South China Sea, alongside Cambodia, China, and Laos.

Children Available
• In Vietnam, children of both sexes are available from government operated orphanages. Children are typically placed for adoption due to poverty. Infants, older children, healthy children and special needs children are available for adoption. All children are tested for Hepatitis B and HIV. Sibling groups are very rarely available. Vietnam does allow the adoption of non-related children at the same time.

Parents' Requirements
• The parents must be at least 25 years of age. There is no maximum age, but Vietnam stipulates each parent must be 20 years older than the child they are adopting.

Marital Status
• Married couples and singles may adopt.

Referral Time
• Once the family has USCIS (immigration approval) they will be eligible for a referral. Referrals take minimum of 4 months; up to 8 months for an infant girl. Once a match is made, CCI will receive a picture and medical information of the child and will share with the family. Parents will prepare a dossier specifically for Vietnam. Your dossier will be sent to Vietnam for registration.

Travel Information
• Travel will take place several months after your dossier has been registered in Vietnam. One trip of approximately 14 days is required. The adoption will be finalized in Ho Chi Min City, formerly Saigon, and the family will travel to Hanoi to fulfill visa requirements at the U.S. Embassy. Your travel and accommodations in country will be coordinated by CCI and you will be guided through the process by an English speaking facilitator. Sightseeing opportunities will be available. Generally, you will meet your child on the second day of the trip and they will be with you throughout your stay in-country.

CCI works with an agency licensed by Vietnam to operate its Vietnam Program. CCI itself is not licensed by Vietnam. Information regarding the third-party agency is revealed to all applicants upon approval of their application. Information can also be provided upon request.
